Disney begins casting on 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales

Today The Daily Mail is reporting that Walt Disney Pictures has signed legendary Rolling Stones guitarist and Grammy Award nominee Keith Richards to play Jack Sparrow’s father in the upcoming Walt Disney Pictures feature film sequel "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales". Richards returns as Captain Edward Teague, having previously played the role in Gore Verbinski's "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End" and in Rob Marshall's "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides".
In addition to the Keith Richards report, the same website is reporting that two-time Academy Award winner Christopher Waltz is in negotiations to play villain Captain Brand, and Academy Award winner Geoffrey Rush reprising his role as Barbosa. Other reports have Golden Globe Award nominee Rebecca Hall playing the role of Carina Smyth. Disney has not made any official casting announcements.
Norwegian filmmakers Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg will direct "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" from an original screenplay written by BAFTA Film Award nominee Jeff Nathanson based on characters by Academy Award nominee Terry Rossio. Nine-time Primetime Emmy Award winner Jerry Bruckheimer will produce along with Mike Stenson and Chad Oman. Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures will handle domestic distribution.
"Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" was originally scheduled to begin filming in January, 2014 for a July 10, 2015 release date. However, Disney pushed the start of filming to October, 2014 with a release date sometime in 2016. Shooting will take place in Hawaii, United Kingdom, Los Angeles,and in Louisiana.
