I totally agree...I used to love SM as a kid, but during my last couple of trips I went on the ride only once. And everytime it was really painful and not much fun at all. It's a shame really. A friend of mine felt nauseous and dizzy after the ride from all the banging on the head due to the restraints. :(

The body of the trains will have to change though, the new Vekoma Harnasses are much bigger than the ones used now. Also they are locked/unlocked electrically so the need to change the chassis a bit to. I think that new trains are cheaper/easier to install instead of changing the ones used now. That would also explain why they are delayed.

Quite a long SM closure coming up: 19th Nov until 7th Dec.
Possibility of seeing new trains? Or maybe just a good refurb of all the effects and that cannon thats not been doing anything for the last year :P

I hope they fix the speaker system too. The last couple of times I rode SM:M2 I had no audio!

Last weekend the audio was working, it was loud and it was to late?! The music was about 5 sec behind, if they would fix the music is perfect again.

Imagine how amazing it would be if they fix the smoke coming out of the cannon!

Back yesterday, I can tell you that they've given the Baltimore Gun Club part of the queue a good re-paint/refresh incl. all lights and also re-lamped the station area with the new longer lasting bulbs appearing all over the resort. Inside the attraction there was smoke when you go through the asteroid (not seen that before, personally) and also a bit before the red neon tube. All other visual affects were looking great! Trains still have dire audio and canon still completely knackered though!

I'd love for them to just take some time to redesign or create a totally new recoil effect. The current one seems to be just too tricky for them to keep working properly for extended periods of time! I remember at the 15th Anniversary when they got it working again, it was wonderful and really added to Discoveryland! There must be a way to keep it at least moving to some extent!

As for new trains, it's a shame they weren't putting them on this time, but that's not to say they didn't try them out to see what changes needed making (if any). So I'm not too let down by their lack of appearance this time, roll on 2012 and Space Mountain Mission 2.5!

So what is the latest on the new restriants? They were supposed to changed over in September originally.... why the delay? It must be up there as one of the most important changes that the park needs, given the beating the coaster gives its riders...
