Going in just over a week!! And I need a bit of help...

Postby never2old » Wed Nov 14, 2012 8:45 pm

Hello all!!

My sister, who lives in Canada, is coming for a few days (arriving this Saturday) I can't wait!! Haven't seen her and her family since May! (she has a little son, a couple months older than my daughter :D )

Her husband's family lives in France, and since they're not going to have enough time to go down to see them, they've decided to meet half way... and that happens to be Paris!! So here's the plan, her husband (with their son) will drive to Marne la Vallee Thursday morning, and meet up with his parents, his sister and her two kids (17 months and 4 years old); my sister has to stay because she's got some interviews to do. Then in the afternoon after work, we'll drive down with her (it's about 3 hours from Luxembourg to Marne la Vallée) and stay the night in a hotel near DLP (the Adagio in Magny le Hongre).

And Friday, we go to Disney!!!

I'm very very excited because it will be the first time for all the children, and the first time for my daughter!!! Yes we had said we would wait a bit longer for her to be a bit older (she's 19 months old now), but it's the Christmas season, she loves Mickey and Minnie, and.... well, I just couldn't wait any more!!

We're only going for 1 day (we're actually driving back Friday night), and the idea is to take it easy with the children, do a few rides that they will enjoy (I'm particularly looking forward to doing IASW, I think Alicia is going to LOVE it!!), catch the Christmas parade, see Santa... Basically have a fun day out, with a few rides, and plenty of Disney magic (and maybe try to do Phantom Manor when the children are having a nap....)

And I have a few questions, I hope you can help me!

I haven't been and stayed off site for a very very long time.... I know the park officially opens at 10:00, but from what time can we go into the park? I know they let everyone in a bit before (even if we cannot get out of Main Street).

I seem to remember that you can sent your shopping to a collecting point in the Disney Village (as you can do with the hotels). Is this service still working? And does anyone have any experience with it? Does it get very busy? Where exactly is it?

I also seem to remember that parking at the Disney Village is actually cheaper than then DLP car park, is this true?

And now more importantly, about the rides... Unfortunately the teacups, Le Pays des Contes des Fées and Casey Jr are closed when we go :( I know we can do IASW and Dumbo with the little ones, and my sister wants to do Peter Pan. What other rides would you recommend we try with the little ones (17, 19 and 21 months old!) I was thinking about trying Pirates of the Caribbean but my husband isn't sure about the drops... Have any of you tried with small children?

And Dreams... Again I think children will enjoy it (the park closes at 7, so at least it's not too late for any of them, they should all be awake for Dreams!) At least I think Alicia will, she saw a bit of it on youtube and she was all aaaaaah, oooooh ;) But again my husband thinks that some bits may be scary... Your thoughts?

Thanks!!

My daughter was 22months when she went and she loved IASW, dumbo, story boat, casey jnr train, tea cups, peter pan (gripped tight, it's a bit dark), flying carpets, slinky dog! Don't miss playhouse Disney, my daughter danced and pointed all the way through. We saw it 3 times! She was scared of being up close to the characters with heads (Mickey, Minnie, donald etc) but loved meeting princesses. In the parades she was shouting Mickey etc and waving, but up close she just screeeeamed! So maybe test the water before booking a character meal. Have a magical time!

you will get through the turnstiles at around 9.30am

yes, they still do this. You have to have bought your items before 2.30pm, and remember to tell the cashier before they start ringing things through that you'd like them delivered to the store in the Village. It used to be the big store there, it might be World of Disney now, I'm not sure.

yes, its 8 euros per day at the Vinci car park in the Village, its 15 euros for the DLP car park.
