A couple of questions

Postby MrsPirate » Fri Aug 12, 2011 9:13 am

Hi, does anybody know how much bigger family rooms are than normal rooms and which hotels have them?

Also,

When will I be able to book for October 2012.

Many thanks,

Im not sure about family rooms to be honest , as most rooms are family ones anyway, they usually have either 2 doubles or 1 double and 2 bunk beds , the only place i know for certain only has 1 double bed in their rooms in hotel ny ,as far as booking goes we were wondering the same thing last year this year you could book for october from June onwards :) hope this helps

We are a family of 5, so I can give you some input on the rooms.

If you are 4 people with 1 baby, you can add a baby bed to a standard room, but then space is very restricted.

You have family rooms are in Disneyland Hotel, Newport Bay (reservation only possible through phone) and Santa Fee.
Those rooms are a bit bigger than standard, but you always have a convertible couch and never 5 "real" beds. In DH and NPB there is 1 couch and in SF I think there are 2.

In NPB you have the presidential suite that is suitable for families (dont know if they can add a bed or if there is a couch in addition to the 2 double beds) and there are some resort suite with connecting rooms (in very limited numbers).

I don't know anything about the DH suites. I think there are no suites in NY for families.

In Thomas Cook Explorers you have a main room with two "real" double beds and a small connected room with 2 bunk beds. Those are the most comfortable rooms I have been in for Disney. Also, this hotel is the first stop for the transfer bus to the parks for the partner hotels.

Davy Crockett Ranch has big rooms but I have never been there.

So if we cannot afford DH, we always use Thomas Cook.

Hi we stayed at the Davy Crockett in may, we loved it. I come from a family of 5 and was always the one on the pull out tiny bed because I was the smallest so I know how difficult it is. The Davy Crockett would be brilliant for you. We had a premium cabin, it had 1 double bed with an ensuite, lounge/kitchen/diner, a room with a toilet and sink, another room with a sink and shower, and the last room had 3 proper sized single beds and I think one of them had a pull out underneath.

Hope this helps

Thank you for your replies.

I have three children and the youngest will be too old for a cot, so I'm really hoping their Grandmother will come with us and one of them will stay in her room. The Presidential suite has a double bedroom and a sofa in the living room so we would also need an adjoining room but the cost was almost £2,000 for 3 nights, way out of our price range!! Davy Crockett would be ideal but we won't have a car as are going by Eurostar, but will certainly be something to seriously consider in the future. I hadn't thought about an off-site hotel as I have always been put off by taking a pram on the bus, but if needs must.

Keeping everything crossed for a really good discount I have always wanted to stay at the Disneyland Hotel.

Just realised I said the price of the Presidential Suite was almost £2,000, I meant almost £4,000, actual price was £3,808.

Hi. We have stayed a few times in DLH in a family room. These rooms have 2 (big) double beds plus a pull out sofa (which was v comfy). They are much bigger then the standard dlh rooms in my opion and maybe we just got lucky but the 3 times we stayed in them we were on the ground floor with a small terrace with table and chairs which I really appreciated. We are going again next week :D and paid 1200 euros (about 1000 pounds) for 3 nights/4 days which I thought was a bargain!
Hope this helps
counting down till 20th May and and 10th DLP trip :) this time 4 nights in SL :D
Also going 21st october for 4 nights staying in DLH in the Castle Club :)

I spoke to Disney today about the new family rooms opening in the Santa Fe in November. They sleep 6 people a double bed and trolly bed in the bedroom and sofa bed in the living area, it also has 2 bathrooms. However, with the 30% offer we would save £230 if we got 2 rooms rather than the family room.

I would guess 2. The room sleeps 6 so that would be 2 in each bed. Though for that price it should have 3 'proper' beds not a trolly bed and a sofa bed!
