Warner Bros Studio Tour London - Wizarding World Comes To UK

On the BBC's The One Show yesterday, Warwick Davies reported from the Warner Bros Studio Tour London which opens up with The Making of Harry Potter exhibit next month.

If you've ever wanted to visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Florida, this is the next best thing. These are the real sets, at the real studios where all 8 films were shot. You can do some of the same things they have in Florida, such as see Dumbledore’s Office and drink Butterbeer. But you can also do some things that are exclusive to the UK, such as go in the real Great Hall and walk through Diagon Alley!

Yeah, it doesn't open until Saturday the 31st of March 2012. I think it's a VERY good reason to visit London. In fact, other than Wicked, it's probably the best reason to visit London

My parents are going to London in July and I showed them this - I think they've already booked their tickets!! I'm a wee bit jealous, I must say =)

We have seen Wicked in London last year. It was fantastic and I'm glad we didn't chose Lion King.

Not sure what the presnter is talking about in that video - tickets for a family of four children arent going to be a couple of hundred pounds?! You can clearly see on the website that tickets are much, MUCH less than this.

Notice, she said she has four children, not a family of four. So with her and husband, that would be 2 adults plus 4 children visiting. So if she wanted tickets:

2 Adults = £56
4 Children = £84
So that's £140 in total for her group to enter

Now, the Warner Bros Studio Tour London actually offers a Family ticket, which gets 2 adults and 2 children in for £83. So, some more maths:

Family = £83
2 Children = £42
So that's £125 in total for her group to enter

Sure, she factored in merchandise, but the bottom line is, it's not "an awful lot of money". She was just talking out of her arse, as people on TV tend to do

I'm amazed the woman from the Studios she was talking to didn't speak up and prove her wrong. Thats damn bad publicity for a promo spot to end on "...buts it ridiculously expensive."

Yes the woman from the Studios should've corrected her. Even for the sexually prolific with 4 children, it's only £125 (£20.83 each). And for regular families with 2 children, it's just £98 to get in (so £24.50 each).

Sure, it could be cheaper. But if that's what it costs to visit the REAL sets of Harry Potter, then that's what it costs. Deal with it.

Em - I'm dealing with it very well! I'm not saying it's too expensive - If anything I think it's very fairly priced. All I'm pointing out is the unfair way it's portrayed in the feature.

I agree with you. It is fairly priced for what it is, and it was unfairly portrayed in this feature. Also, Harry Potter isn't just for kids. Sure, the first two films were quite kiddy, but the final six have been very adult.

The media always like to have a good old whinge about ticket prices whenever a new attraction opens. It seems to be a lazy easy criticism to throw in, to make sure it doesn't look like they're just giving airtime to promote a private business.

For some reason I've no real interest in Harry Potter, but it is nice to have an attraction like this in the UK, and for Warner Bros. to commit to investing in the studio. Maybe I'll drop by if I'm ever in Watford... Actually it sounds preferable to watching Olympic hockey in London this summer...

I think it's great to finally have an attraction of this quality in the UK. I mean, if you're a fan of fantasy, family entertainment and immersive environments, you really ought to buy a ticket and support it. If it proves to be successful, perhaps it will be expanded and turned into a theme park in the future?

Disneyandmore recently posted a map/plan of the Warner Bros Studio Tour London, which is quite fascinating to look at. This attraction is clearly much larger than many people were expecting. It's not a theme park, but it's definitely Disney-quality:
