Driving from Eurotunnel to DLRP

Postby Faffy » Fri Nov 04, 2011 9:31 pm

Hi, I have read in several places that it is really easy to drive from the Eurotunnel terminal to DLRP, but have also seen a couple of conflicting routes & info on how much the tolls will cost. What is the easiest and cheapest route please?

Try this site www.autoroutes.fr They show the distance as 316 km and tolls of 21 euros each way. I have driven this route many times and it is relatively easy and straightforward. You could follow non motorway routes to save the tolls, but it would take much longer and there would be more scope to get lost! An important point is not to speed on the motorway as I believe that they have number plate recognition cameras at the toll booths and work out average speed of your motorway journey!

we deove last time and will again this week. It was so easy to use the autoroute/motorway. I think the 21 euros was well worth it as it would cost a lot in petrol to do the other route especially as I get lost lol

Hi, I drive every time I go, and nxt saturday will be my 13th journey, The drive is very easy and straight forward, the tolls cost no more than 25 euros and takes about 3hrs from calais to dlrp. there are plents of places to stop along the way using the toll road and just so straight forward it is well worth paying the tolls. Never othered to try any other route becuse you end up taking longer and using more petrol.
Hope this helps

We nearly always stop at Assevillers-ouest on the A1. It's about halfway to DLP, it's modern, clean and has loads of different food outlets if you're getting peckish.

We always stop at this service station aswell. We find it is clean, and as you say, has plenty of food outlets. We use it also as our halfway point \:D/

As for the drive, we live in the North West of England, and always drive over to DLP. We find it less stressful than flying, and if we went by Eurostar, we would still have to make our way down there. My husband prefers driving over in France, as we use the Toll roads, and they never seem to have the problems with delays caused by roadworks the way we do over here :-"

I'll be doing the drive to DLP for the first time for our December trip. I'll be following the old satnav but the last time we road tripped it my mate was driving and his satnav sent him all over the place through little towns and villages. Has anyone used the satnav address given on the dlrpmagic driving guide and has it taken them on the A26 to the A1 then the A104 to the A4 as suggested on the site?

Most definitely!! - A26 (about 45-55 mins) then A1 south towards Paris, the A104 is just past CDG airport. It can get a little hairy on the A104 and you change lanes quite often, just follow the signs to Marne La Valée and Meaux, that will get you onto the A4, then head towards Reims. There are surprisingly few signs for DLP considering the size of the place. You need exit 14 off the A4 if driving straight to the parcs (it's just before the péage) signposted Parcs Disney/Bailly-Romainvilliers or the exit before that if your staying at Ranch Davy Crockett.

When you're driving in towards the parcs keep going until you see the signs for "Hotels Disney", then at the roundabout turn right. You will go past Newport Bay Club and then Sequoia Lodge on your left, then you will come to a set of traffic lights, stay in the right hand lane (the left lane goes towards Cheyenne, Hotel New York, Disney Hotel, shuttle drop off/pick up points and the TGV). Go straight through the lights and the next turn on your left is the entrance to Santa Fe and the Esso petrol station.

Well, we made it, and Samninetysix is right, the lane changing on the A104 is a bit hairy, but we managed ok. The roads put ours to shame, in much better condition, and even where there were road works, it didn't really slow the traffic down. The other thing that was much better were the toilets in the service stations - spotless! I won't use them in a petrol station here (UK), but was pleasantly surprised. Overall, a good driving experience, although we may consider EuroStar next time, as when you add up fuel, tolls, etc, I think it may have been cheaper (although driving gave us more flexibility, so you just have to weigh it up each time, I think). The only advice I would have for others is to make sure you stay on the A4 until junc 14, and don't be distracted by Marne La Vallee signs, as they apply to lots of different places!!. Don't be put off by the lack of DLP signs.

Each way! Approx 20 miles outside Calais on the A26 you will reach the entry to the toll roads. You take a ticket and retain it until the exit just after Charles De Gaulle Airport. This is where you pay.

On the way back you collect your ticket just before te airport an pay at the Calais toll.

These are the only tolls you pay and pass through.

The journey is very easy.

Good place to stop is the services at Assenvilliers Est on the to DLP and the same one on the west bound, Assenvilliers Ouest.

The route is very simple

Eurotunnel join to the A16, and follow the signs to Paris, keep following signs for Paris on the A26. Keeping following the signs for Paris as you Join the A1.

The only tricky part is at Charles De Gaulle Airport where you need to keep right for the A104 there are Disneyland signs, but just follow the signs for Marne La Vallee.

Just keep your wits about you as the final link onto the A104 can be missed. Use a satnav and you won't go wrong .

The A104 is called La Franceillen, stay on this road until you see the signs forthe A4, following the signs for Marne La Vallee/Val D'europ.

You stay on the A4 until exits for Parc Disneyland.
enjoy yourself, it's later than you think!
