About Me..... For some reason a lot of people have assumed I was born with Disney all around me, but how wrong they end up being when I tell them it didn’t start till January 2005, my first trip to Disneyland Resort Paris, a trip arranged by my partner Vanessa for my Daughter Jennifer who was 4.
My main interest at the time was listening to Country and Western music and any merchandise associated with it. I quickly discovered that since DLRP had an American connection through Disneyland Anaheim and WDW I would be able to purchase some country clothing and merchandise which was not easy to find in this country.
The first day arriving at the resort I was in my element looking at all the country merchandise on offer, but for some reason something else was catching my eye, but I wasn’t quite sure what it was at first. As the day wore on I realised that it was the surroundings, atmosphere and the entertainment that all seemed to go hand in hand for all ages. As our vacation went on I was getting more and more interested in how this place all came to be and the stories behind it, it was then I realised that this whole place was based on stories in one way or another.
When our vacation was coming to an end I realised just what a magical place DLRP was and I knew from this moment we would be back. Just before we left I remember seeing a book called “Disneyland Paris - From Sketch To Reality”, which depicts DLRP in vibrant colour and the background stories behind the building of the place. I knew this would be a brilliant read. I was not disappointed!
On returning home I started to get infatuated with the whole park itself, even more so after reading that very book. At times I felt it was my only link with the place until I could visit again. It wasn’t until May 2007 that I finally found an online forum I could share my love for DLRP, that being the “MagicForum”. A brilliant online forum based around DLRP, but includes many other aspects of Disney itself, just what I was looking for. Really it’s my second magical world other than the place itself.
Around this time I began to think back to my childhood and one particular character I had grown up around, that character being Donald Duck, I started to remember some of my favourite cartoon shorts starring Donald. As time moved on I started to collect Donald merchandise, discovering more and more about the Duck himself.
Then around Christmas 2007 I discovered another Disney collectable range, this being 'Disney Traditions', my first being a figure of Donald wrapped up in christmas tree lights, a piece called "Santa's Highly Strung Helper” which was given as a present by a work colleague. From then on we have never stopped collecting pieces from this range, a range which you can see on this very site.
Through the years I have purchased many Disney books/biographies, DVD’s and various other Disney merchandise and collectables, again which you can view on here.
I had such a collection of Disney artifacts and hundreds of photos taken at DLRP that I decided to launch this very website back in September 2007, which to this day just keeps growing in size, with ever increasing volumes of visitors.
Now Disney has just become part of my everyday life, with DLRP being the main heart of my inspiration, 7 visits on and my love for Disney just increases.
I should also point out that it’s not just me, my whole family now has a great love of Disney and because of this I cannot see Disney ever fading away from our hearts!
Talking about family, there is an ironic connection with all of our favourite Disney characters, you see Vanessa's favourite character comes as two, in the way of two mischevious Chipmunks 'Chip 'n' Dale', and you all know their connection with Donald. Jen's is in the way of a particular Princess 'Snow White', who aswell as caring for seven little dwarfs also cared for all of the little furry animals in the wood, which would including Chipmunks...... Talk about full circle! So that's another Disney story in itself!
Disney truly is a world of stories and through Disneyland it all comes together with a touch of magic, or is it Pixie dust? We'll never truly know, but there is one quote from the genius himself for me that sums it up, and that is:-
“There will always be a Disneyland as long as there is imagination in the world” – Walt Disney.
And that is what I have in leaps and bounds!!!
