iPhone/Mobile Version of Magicforum?

Postby CafeFantasia » Sat May 30, 2009 2:05 pm

Hi,

Would it be possible, using an alternative stylesheet, for the magicforum to be simplified/reformatted when you visit it on a Smart Phone such as the iPhone?

You can obviously visit and post to the magicforum on a device like the iPhone, but there's a lot of text and everything's very small. It would be great to have a simple, single column version.

Great idea. There are a variety of mods available that can make a mobile version of the forum.

At the very least, it would be nice if the owner's of the Magicforum added a little apple-touch-icon to the forum, so that users can add a Magicforum icon to their iPhone/iPod touch Home Screen.

Here are some examples:

I personally find it fine to read, but difficult to post on the forum using my iPhone. But then most forums I find it difficult to post on using the phone.

Maybe it's the ToT theme I'm using which makes it easier for me.

It was done and uploaded a few days ago...

apple-touch-icon.png

But it seems to need the code added to the forum's html for iPhone to pick it up, I guess it automatically looks in the base (photosmagiques.com) directory instead.

I made DLRP Magic's a little nicer the other day too, not sure if it updates automatically if you already had it.

Ah, well done. Now just follow the simple steps in Gary's video. Basically, stick it in the root/main directory of your site:

Yes, all we need is...

Code: Select all
<link rel="apple-touch-icon" href="/forum/apple-touch-icon.png"/>

...in the header of the forum, and this isn't something I can do (but I have asked politely...) :wink:
