Best device for capturing VHS tapes?

Postby Anthony » Fri Oct 23, 2009 12:36 am

Hey Euro Souvenirland guests,

Does anyone happen to have experience in transferring VHS tapes to your computer?

I've already got a small USB device that connects into the back of the VCR but as you can see from the videos already in the "Disney Archive" on DLRP Magic's video section, the quality isn't great. The picture appears "wobbly" and overall quality is way lower than I've seen elsewhere.

I'm sure there are better devices, maybe PC card type ones? No idea which is best though...

Any help appreciated! I'd like to copy up the old Euro Disney commercials and a few official souvenir videos I've got before the VCR dies completely.

Thanks, but that's a bit expensive for a cheapskate like me. I've still got a VCR so I really just need some kind of PC card. Something better than this USB stick. Will keep looking...

Just found a WinTV card on eBay for £15.99 (rrp £50 :? ), with composite inputs recording to MPEG-2.

Hopefully that'll do the job. :)

New TV capture card just arrived, works like a charm! Great quality, colours and no more wobbly pictures.

Expect the Euro Souvenirland video pages to be open sometime soon then. :)

Although, I probably picked the wrong video to test it with... the sound could be totally out of sync for all I know... http://blip.tv/file/2830612

Just had a look on the video. Could agree that the sync is not the best, but hey - it works! :)

I was joking, this video has the worst dubbing you've ever seen.
