so after hearing my boyfriend go on and on about how good alton towers is we decided we would finally make a trip down there so my mum drove me, my sister my boyfriend and our friend down there, getting there was a fun trip filled with laughs and giggles for alot of the way, so after arriving my mum parked in the alton towers hotel car park as she would get complimentary free parking as part of her spa day which we had booked her in as a thankyou, and we headed for the monorail *problem 1* the monorail broke down.... we arrived at alton towers at around 9:15 and after buying our tickets online got early access as part of this... but the broken monorail meat it was 5 to 10 before we even set foot through the gates of the park... so down trodden that our 4:30am wake up was for nothing we joined the queue for the not yet open sonic spinball.... after my boyfriend got to meet his hero sonic the hedgehog himself (my boyfriend is the one in the sonic t-shirt)

so sonic spinball was our first ride of the day and it honestly made me realise how much disney has spoiled me..... me and my sister where convinced that it was pretty much crush's coaster just themed around sonic rather than finding nemo.... might have just been us though....
it was after this that rides wise everything started going down hill.... from sonic we headed into the 'x-sector' where we rode oblivion which apparently some moron despite the signs everywhere warning about the ride stopping of someone had their phone out still took it out making delay number 1.......oblivion itself was a ride that left much to be desired.... i honestly wasn't impressed with that ride at all it was just so short.... i kinda sat there as we pulled back into the station and thought... well is that it? unfortunately for me it was.... the next ride was submission which just didn't make any sense at all... and with those done we left x-sector and headed for the dark forest and rita.... now this was a ride i had waited for the most its my boyfriends favourite ride and therefore the one he goes on about the most.... it was also a ride that broke down on us moving our wait from a short 25 mins to a whopping 45 mins.... not too bad but on our limited time it did take out a big chunk... i will say that it was worth the wait i loved it.... but not sure if a 45 min wait is too long.... we did think about riding th13rteen while we where there but the queue time was showing up at a 45 min wait at the entrance and via the alton towers app which i had on my phone and since everyone was hungry so we decided to leave it for later (probably a bad idea as we never got to ride it in the end) and instead headed for the forbidden valley and some food in the form of fish and chips, next ride was air showing a 50 min wait and you guessed it began experiencing 'technical problems' this meant missing out on this ride, now normally i probably would have waited in the queue but everyone was crabby after such an early morning and an unknown wait time just wasnt going to cut it so we ditched this ride and headed back out of the land towards katanga canyon here we rode duel, now i loved this ride it reminded me so much of buzz lightyears lazer blast and we had good fun on the ride... and our next stop was the congo river rapids, here i picked up one of these usb wristband things to have the photos put on and got the one of all of us on the ride... totally poseing =]
(im at the back in the black hoody with red clouds on it)after going on this we headed for the flume but ended up not riding due to a 35 min wait, we stood around for a while trying to figure out what we wanted to do, and everyone was in agreement for trying out th13rteen and back towards to the dark forest we headed stoping off for a ride on battle galleons where me and my sister got soaked by my friend and boyfriend.... as we went passed the towers we stopped off at hex which was a ride that confused me but was really quite good.... i still done really get it though.... unfortunately this was to be our last ride of the day we we just didnt have the time to ride th13rteen we did go back into the forest though as me and my boyfriend decided we wanted the copy of our onride photo of us on rita....

in all it was a good day, but i did find myself constantly comparing every aspect of the park with disney.... which probably wasnt the way to go about viewing the park, also my tiredness made me very upset about the rides and if i hadn't been in so much pain i probably would have gone and lodged a complaint about how bad the rides where for breaking down on us but alas i was in pain (bad knees) and so we headed out of the park and off for the car and home....
i am not completely righting off alton towers as i think if i had had more time in the park to do everything i would have enjoyed it alot more but i did leave feeling disappointed that i didnt get the resorts main attractions done....
so i an going to reserve judgement until after my next trip =]
*edit* i forgot the app had a ride counter thing on it which works out for you how far you have travelled, how high you got and how many G's you experienced throughout your visit.... these where my results...
