Budget!

Postby Cara » Tue Apr 10, 2012 8:52 pm

Hey guys :) My boyfriend and I went to Disneyland in February for our 2 year anniversary and it was amazing! We're looking into going again in September but won't have as much money as last time as I am a student and he will be a student by that time! Any tips for the same experience but on a tight budget? Thanks! x

Where did you stay before? When I can afford it I stay at the Sequoia Lodge but when I went on a budget before in August I stayed at the Hotel Cheyenne and it was lovely and extremely good value for money and then there is always the Hotel Santa Fe. If you're looking at going in September (I'm already booked up for then!) you will find the hotels on and off site very similar in price so I always choose to stay on site at this time of year.

I stayed at Santa Fe last time, it was lovely but because of the 40% off we can afford a nicer hotel. Although when we get there we won't have a lot of money to spend! That's a good idea, thanks! I'll look into the off site hotels too.

Are you driving down?, if so you can save loads of money by booking into a Premiere Classe or similar and have a ten minute drive to the parks. When I checked online, the Cheyenne was only about £80 cheaper than the Sequoia Lodge for a 4 day visit. I still find the cheapest option if you plan to go more than once in a year is to buy an AP and get all the discounts.

We're taking the eurostar as I haven't been driving long. The Cheyenne hotel seems a good option though. I'll have a look at the AP tickets :) but we haven't got loads of money, although it could save us a bit!

I just did a quick check and based on going on Monday Sept 10th for 3 nights it is £573.76 - with an Annual Dream Passport it's £381.86 + approx £168 for a Dream Pass = £549(ish) . Take into account you get 10% off most dining and 20% off most things you buy from the shops, you are saving quite a bit. With 2 Dream passes it's working out at about £717 which is £144 more than a package from DLP but if you plan on going again in under a year, you will save loads. In fact when you feel confident enough to drive to DLP you can stay in a cheap hotel somewhere nearby and use your Dream pass to get into the parks (you also get free parking with Dream pass)

Wow thanks! I'll look into getting the anual pass as it seems to save quite a lot. Yeah if we do go again it will save a huge amount especiall with the Dream Pass. Thanks for all your help! :)

If your staing at the Cheyenne it will include park tickets and being on a budget an AP would be a waste of money for this trip. Unless you book via somewhere like expedia who do room only.

I have found that it is cheaper to book the hotel and ticket package via Disneyand and Eurostar tickets direct with Eurostar (on that point it is cheaper if you travel via and change at Lille), the other advantage to that route is that youcan pick and choose your arrival and departure times whereas if you use the direct to Disney Eurostar there is no flexability. Also with Eurostar the earlier you book the tickets the cheaper.

That's pretty good, we were wondering whether to get the eurostar with the tickets or not so thanks for the suggestion :) I'll have a look at switching a Lille too, thanks.
