Any experiences with Dreams dinner package/viewing area?

Postby mgb.rob » Wed Apr 04, 2012 8:54 pm

I'll be visiting Disneyland for a very short period - 2 days. I'm trying to maximize my time there, including looking into booking a dinner package to get access to the Dreams VIP viewing area. I figure it'll be worth it if I can save an hour or more of having to save a spot on Main Street.

Has anyone had any experiences with the VIP viewing area yet? For example, if it's just as crowded as the other viewing areas and whether it's even worth buying a dinner package to access it.

Thanks!

The viewing area has some benches and from what I have been told its not as crowded and you have room to move around a bit more freely.
Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love you tomorrow....Your always a day closer to my next Disney trip :)

Any ideas what would happen if the Dreams dinner package was booked in advance but the show was rained off. (I'm preparing in advance after the torrential rain of last July!)

Obviously the meal bit would be OK but would the VIP viewing be carried forward to the next show or is it just hard luck?

You can book it at City Hall as well as via +33 1 60 30 40 50. We found, though, that they are a bit short of PCs in City Hall so it took a while. DLP Info has the Walts Menu at http://www.dlp.info/News/2012/04/the-di ... ms-dinner/ Given a choice of Walts or Silver Spur for the same price we went for the former. It was tasty and well presented, but the portions were quite small. As an aside, the state of the washrooms in Walts was pretty bad, the sinks were blocked in both the Mens & Womens. Indeed every loo we went in throughout the two days left a bit to be desired.

I don't understand this "dinner". I must buy "the disney dreams dinner" for 40 eur- i have eat in walts (or other restaurant) and then i go to some special area on central plaza? Or is something different combination to choose?
It is worth??
Is good view from other places without this dinner? What is best place to see "Dreams!", please? Thank you!
(sorry for my bad english, thank You!)

I haven't decided whether or not to buy the Disney Dreams Dinner, I might wait till I get there. The special place reserved near Caseys Corner holds a thousand people, I could end up standing at the back of them. it depends how busy the parks are and I'm going in July so it could be very crowded. I would like to book it though, but I want a nice evening and not when it's pouring with rain. I should think a good place to stand would be near central plaza.

We will be eating at walts with our half board plus vouchers on one of the days, do you think we will be able to upgrade (pay extra) for the dreams package?

For those of you who have tried this, is it worth it, do you get a better view?

We were at DLP 2-8th April. We enquired at City Hall re dinner package and VIP area, the cast member suggested eating dinner at our choice of restaurant and finding a spot to watch Dreams early on as the VIP area was just outside Caseys Corner.
We did do that and got a great spot in the middle of Central Plaza, we also checked out the VIP area and it is indeed a roped off area on the curve of Main St just after Caseys Corner. It is along way back from the castle when a number of projections on the castle are at the base as would not be in view in the VIP area. We didnt think the extra cost was worth it and put the extra Euros to a bottle of 20th Anniversary red, which I have to saw was really rather nice.
One thing to note is that she did say as it was early days with the show and the VIP area was open to review dependant on the feed back gained.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for that Buzz! We are in DLP end of May and I have been trying to decide on whether to book the package or not. Reading your experience, I don't think we will bother now. How far in advance did you grab your spot?

Hi Amanda, we took our spot around 8.40pm. There were quite a number of people doing the same. We just passed the time with our 11yr old playing word games and talking about the day etc, the time passed quickly......and it was worth it the show is FANTASTIC!

We had the Dreams dinner package at Walts.

The meal was very very nice, all three courses were really good. We also had a bottle of the 20th Anniversary Merlot which was ok, but the bottle was really pretty and I took that away with me.

The viewing area however was a disappointment, especially considering the meal for two had cost 100euros plus tip. They could have chosen a much better position that could have made it worthwhile. We had a second Dreams/Dinner booked but decided not to bother with it and also choose to have what ever we wanted from the menus.

Shame they didn't choose a better place to be honest otherwise it could have been great.
and straight on till morning.

we took our spot for Dreams about an hr before show (which ended up being 20mins late). we were on the benches in the middle section and just in front of the VIP area. I would've been disappointed had I done the dinner/dreams package as everyone else can still stand directly in front. where we sat on a bench behind the back 'quarter' of green was fine as the people in front were far enough away to not affect viewing.

I can imagine it can get very very busy though, but is definitely worth a view :-)
